We believe Christians are called to be the body of Christ and carry out the Great Commission. God chose us and created us to do good works, which He marked out beforehand (Eph. 2:10). We are to be doers of the word, not hearers only (James 1:22). Thistlebend Ministries, therefore, desires to encourage and train women to think beyond themselves, first to their husbands, next to their children, then to their neighbors, work associates, and extended family members. We believe and have seen that women magnify their impact in their world when they seek to be Jesus to those beyond their world, those 'Beyond the Gate' who are not in their immediate sphere of influence. They do this by setting a living example of Christian love and sacrifice and walking it out in front of their husbands, children, family and neighbors. One changed life impacting others for Christ, lives transformed one by one for generations to come: this is the ultimate mission of our ministry.

One of the most exciting aspects of the ministry is our service program. We have developed curriculum to inspire and equip women to reach out beyond their immediate surroundings and build relationships with those who are spiritually, emotionally, physically, or financially poor. Additionally, the Lord brought to our attention a great need for Bible study material for people in crisis and in non-traditional settings. In response to that, we have been specifically tailoring studies to meet them right where they are and to help them apply the Bible in their current life circumstances. We are now sending out women who have been trained through our curriculum to teach and minister at various facilities in Louisville and the surrounding area. There is work to be done my child.

My people are hurting. They are your sister and your brother.
Don’t worry, have faith.
I am always with you and I will give you grace.
Remember my love, my burden is light.
And one glorious day I will make everything right.

You did not choose me, but I chose you.
I chose you to go and bear lasting fruit.
Follow me as I have washed their feet.
Follow me so you can meet their needs.
The needs of my people who are hurting and lost.
To live a life of sacrifice you must count the cost.

So remember the mercy I gave you and think of the grace;
Then go my love and follow by faith.
Go by grace beyond the gate.
